Took off all the hemispheres and sanded the edges smooth, also primed a couple to see how they will look, pretty pleased with the result! More primer and antique gold on the way!  Cut loads of lengths of wood and glued them around the centre section to make a structure for the lower collar. Used some thin plastic sheet to mock it up before making it in wood.

Ok I think that’s better. Now to figure out the linkage for the eye servo. 

Today while the printer is winnowing away at making a new ring gear I made these new eye pivot mounts. I thought it would be better than 3D printing and I had this aluminnimummum left over.    This puts the eye stalk in the centre of the slot if the dome but it can’t come forward enough so I cut the front edge off the mount. I think now the bolt is hitting the underside of the dome so I’m going to drill another eye pivot hole 10mm lower down.
