Had a play with the eye today. Just a test to see if that lens was usable. I used an old 12v LED celing downlight and dropped the voltage to 3.3v to reduce the brightness a bit. Why? because I had one and it gives a more diffused light than a group of LEDs... IMG_9992.mov Im undecided but might see how it looks once Ive got the eyeball and stalk built. Also tried drilling the swivel balls for the gunbox. Not easy! The hole saw that I had wasnt up to the job of cutting through stainless. I managed to get holes drilled with a step drill up to about 15mm and then marked the correct size and went around the edge with a Dremel and then used metal shears to cut 'petals' and broke them off with pliers at the Dremel marks. Plan is to cut some tubing to sit inside the balls (to keep the balls rigid - I may fill them with expanding foam or something?), the arm and gun stalks will then slide through these tubes. Any slack will be taken up with some self-adhesive Vel (soft half of Velcro) on the inside of the tubes. Also did a little work on the dome. Filled and sanded it reasonably flat, and then a couple of coats each of primer, top coat and lacquer. Its not perfect but much better than it was. The professional respray may have to wait! Unsure on the lights. I tried some silver banding around the base on one and think it looks better than the plain plastic one..? -

I agree; your milk lid solution seems to be doing the biz! IMHO this looks better than some of the screen used props that have been trundled out of late, where the eye lens contains a filament of some sort that really bugs me. -
