Dalek Two Zero
The reason why I said "YOU'RE MY WIFE NOW!" to Alex Kingston...· 0 replies
In 2023 I was invited to Beat Fest in Liverpool Central Library, and while roaming outside I ended up in 3 sets of wedding photos - one of which my photographer mate captured.
I've always posted this photo with that caption, so it made sense to say it when I met the Doctor's Wife last week

Thanks Bertus. I have never run it through a sim so I have no idea of the characteristics. I know it works as it is but maybe some improvement is possible. Hopefully Kev can have a little fun with it. -

It's been a while so time for an update. To start I've made a rim for the bottom. Basically a Dalek horseshoe. As he's made of wood like my first I wanted to give more rigidity to the bottom and give the base more protection when I ground him on uneven ground. This was done by drawing round the whole base onto a sheet of ply and then using that sheet as a welding table with a perfect template. It's 3mm steel cut to all 11 sides and then welded 1mm wider than the actual base. This also greatly helps scrapping the sides as this becomes the first point of contact. It's not quite perfect but a pretty good fit. I drilled and countersunk the holes and screwed it through into the base. I burnt out about half a dozen countersink before learning how to do it properly. Next up I moved onto my chassis. This was a massive amount of work because the donor vehicle I used just didn't remotely fit. The front castor arms were too wide and I had to cut them off and weld them to point inside rather than out. I didn't get a picture before but you'll see if you look at any 6 wheel powerchair that they point out to allow space for a footplate and for stability. This all meant cutting down the front of the chassis as well and relocating the lifting device that I've used before. I'm in the hope it works stage now but initial tests seem to be ok but these changes have led to a few changes on the overall build that I'll go into at the end as things may still change. With this done I've decided to put him all back together. I've added some internal framing to suspend him on and reattached the hemispheres. Then connected and wired all 330 wires just for the base and assembled the whole thing for the very first time. Once assembled I foolishly thought id have a go in him. 20 minutes of attempting to get inside I finally got in after removing most of the skin on my legs and dislocating my neck and to my great delight everything seemed to work Theres still a lot to do with wiring, power, voice mod, headpiece and yes probably more lights. Hopefully it won't be too much longer because this has been by far the hardest of my 3 builds. Here's a quick video of the madness within and thanks for taking a look. VID-20250316-WA0004_2.mp4 -
