Very productive today, finished filling and sanding the dome, applied a nice thick coat of high build which I'll flat off tomorrow.  Recut the tube for the eye stalk as my first attempt was wonky! Also gave the discs a second coat of gold as they were a bit milky looking. Also sorted out the eye stalk pivot and mount 😁

My project for the next couple of months is a commission to refurb a Dead Planet Dalek. It was purchased a few months ago by my client, and he wants it to look more like the Dead Planet Dalek that was used for the Radio Times 60th photoshoot. Limited budget, so looking to get the most authentic external appearance without being overly authentic inside.   I'm not sure of the provenance of the fibreglass parts of this Dalek. The skirt is alright, although the front 3 panels seem to be largely the same widths. I'll be removing all the bolt-on hemis and replacing with push-throughs. The fender is far too wide and has a double step, so that all needs to be sorted out. There is no seat, so I'll fit one.   The shoulders look like a @subcusick set to me, with the integral collar bands. The collars are plastic, and need to be replaced with aluminium. The antennae retainers seem to have been hot glued in, so I think I'll likely rip all that out and fit traditional parts as per the movie Daleks/Dalek 7 (yes, I know it's not authentic to Dead Planet, but I'm on a budget here!). The antennae are all plastic parts with an inauthentic plunger, so I think they'll be entirely replaced.   The neckbin is overly sturdy, and needs to be lightened up, correct mesh fitted. The neck rods are segmented between each neck ring and far too thick, so I'll ditch them, v-slot the neck rings and fit proper rods.   The dome ring is again hot-glued in, so that needs to come out and be replaced by a proper dome ring and rotation mechanism. The eyeball is out of shape, and again is likely to be entirely replaced, as it the eyestalk. Needs all-new electrics and lights etc.

Two weeks ago, I am pretty sure I said that I thought I'd be done by now except perhaps the eyeballs... well, today I glued in the iris discs to the fibreglass eyeballs, and have been applying high build primer to the wooden eyeball... next step on the latter is to white then stencil on the iris.   Other than those, I put everything together this morning. Very gratifying seeing it come together now. I'll take some better images in due course once the eyeballs are on.
